You make them live as you can wherever you live, and you don’t hurt them to make their stay intolerable to them; and if they are bearing pregnancy, then you spend for them until they deliver their pregnancy, then if they are breastfeeding for you, then you give to them their remuneration for it, and you settle the matter in mutual consultation with fair, and if both of you find it difficulty, then let another women to breastfeed for him.
This verse teaches that the women who are divorced to the waiting period should be provided convenience to live in the same house where the husband is living, and if she is pregnant, husband should spend for her until she delivers her pregnancy. Since by the delivery the waiting period is completed, and the duty of breastfeeding rests not only to the mother, the father should give remuneration particularly to the mother for breastfeeding the child. Then if the mother finds it difficult to breastfeed the child due to any mental problem or due to divorce, the father can make arrangement to breastfeed the child with any other women. By saying to the father and mother “you settle the matter in mutual consultation with fair” implies, whether Male or Female, they should live anywhere and anytime in the conscious that as explained in verses 17: 13-15; 18: 49; 23: 62-64; 36: 12; 45: 28-29; 58: 6; and 78: 29, a book of deeds is fastened around the nape of every individual, and on the Day of Judgement the reckoning of everyone will be made by reading that book. See explanation 2: 233-234; and 46: 15.
